How's the fishing in N/S Hegman?

Postby Octagon » Sun Jan 10, 2010 3:24 pm

I'm planning a 3 day trip with an inexperienced (except for me) group. They want to fish. I don't fish much during my trips, so I don't have much background to go on. I'm considering North and South Hegman (easy trip, base camping, pictographs, can hike Angleworm trail or the long portage out of N. Hegman for a change of pace if desired), but would like to know how the fishing is there, what species to target, and maybe an area or two to try. Of course, they want nice weather, so they want to go in July/August, which may be incompatible with catching a lot of fish...

I am also considering Lake One, Two, Three... if anyone has suggestions there or feels that might be a better trip.

The Hegman's have panfish, bass and pike. You can catch some fish there, but it is not a fishing "destination". The Lake 1 chain would be better fishing, lots of room to roam but a lot of people.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
